The customer wants to learn maths in a fun way.
The design brief says that I should make a game that is: 5 levels long, increases in difficulty as the game goes on, has maths based puzzles and has enemies that try and kill you.
The target audience for the game is GCSE students that want to learn maths in a fun way.

Sprites

This is my name, this is used to tell people who made the game.

This is the main character of the game. The reason it is designed the way it is, is because of how the game is called 'Brainbox', I decided that the main character of the game should be a brain inside of something. since the main character has to move I decided to put it inside a walking mech, but I couldn't use a human-like body because it wouldn't fit, so I decided on a spider mech because it requires the least amount of editing to make a walking animation.

This is the wall for the game that stops the players and the enemies for the area.

This is a door which is used as the exit for the level.

This is a door which is used to show the beginning of a level.

This is one of the enemies of the game, if the player hits it they die, these enemies move left, right, up and down.

This is one of the enemies of the game, if the player hits they die, it moves diagonally.

This is the barrier, it stops the player from moving forward until they answer the question.

This is a block which as soon as the player touches it they have the question told to them.

This one of the answers to one of the answers, if the answer is correct the barriers disappear but if is the answer is wrong the level restarts.

This is the background to the game, it is made out of a block of sprites which were then multiplied to fit the entirety of the background.

Levels

This is the first level of the game.

This is the second level of the game.

This is the third level in the game.

This is the fourth level in the game.

This is the final level in the game.

Objects

The main character can move by using the 4 arrows on the side. Using the code I have set the 4 arrow keys so the the character can move and the 'no key' makes it so that if you are not pressing any of the arrow keys the player will stop, if you press the numbers on the keypad (0-4) will send you onto a different level. The collision with the exit means the player travels to the next stage.

Both of the enemies in the game has code so it moves but this enemy only moves up and down and code where if the player touches the enemy the player dies.

This barrier has code which stops the player from progressing unless they solve the question, as soon as the player touches the correct answer the barriers disappear.

This door has code so when the player touches the door they move onto the next level.

This question block has code so when the player touches it a question is displayed.

This answer has code where if the answer is right and the player touches it, the barrier is removed, but if the answer is wrong and the player touches, they die.

This block stops the enemies and the player from going outside the map and from the structure of the levels in the game.

Player reviews

Kori Chamberlain: I think that the game functions properly, but the problem is that the game gets too hard too fast, but the game still works fine.
